About Us

Dolwyddelan Community Council plays an important role in local democracy as the most local tier of elected representation. It is made up of people who care about their community and want to make their area a better place in which to live. Dolwyddelan Community Council (DCC) represents local people, voices their views on important decisions which affect them and works with organisation to improve services.

The DCC lies within the boundaries of Conwy County Borough Council and inside the boundaries of the Eryri National Park which has the responsibility for all the area’s planning issues. The DCC has 8 councillors who are democratically elected every five years and form the full council. They represent approximately 385 people from Dolwyddelan, Roman Bridge and Pont-y-Pant who are registered on the area’s electoral roll. The DCC meet 12 times a year at the Community Centre on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm.

The primary role and function of the DCC is to act as a representative body that addresses the needs and concerns of the community while also managing resources, implementing policies to enhance the quality of life whilst facilitating a wide range of activities which promote the well-being of our community. The DCC oversees benches, shelters, street lighting, and funds the A470 floral planters and reports concerns on footpaths. Among the services it provides are the public toilets, dog bins collection, the Cenotaph, Bryn y Bedd Cemetery, and leading the Christmas Tree Lighting service.
